Zircon as a flat-pyramidal doubly-terminated crystal - 
Gridone near Camedo, Centovalli, Ticino, Switzerland
 
Beautiful and perfect pink-brown crystal (1.7 cm) with classic Zircon habit on Nepheline/Albite matrix. At one end this Zircon shows a small Phlogopite ingrowth on the back, well visible in the UV photo. Habit type s17 (cf. LAPIS 10/2007). Recovered in August 2019 from Nepheline pegmatite #2 on the northern flank of Gridone mountain, ex Stefan Weiß collection. All Zircons of this worldwide unique locality are chemically particularly pure and hence show an intense yellow fluorescence in short-wave UV light!
