Zircon single crystal with Hydroxylapatite - 
Gridone near Camedo, Centovalli, Ticino, Switzerland
 
Beautiful undamaged pink-brown Zircon crystal (3 cm) with typical concave growth faces on the back; attached is little Nepheline/Albite matrix, containing greenish Hydroxylapatite. Zircon habit type s17, flat-distorted (cf. LAPIS 10/2007). Recovered in May 2019 from Nepheline pegmatite #2 on the northern flank of Gridone mountain. All Zircons of this worldwide unique locality are chemically particularly pure and hence show an intense yellow fluorescence in short-wave UV light!
