Zirkon as a doubly-terminated crystal in Phlogopite/Nepheline/Albite matrix -
Gridone near Camedo, Centovalli, Ticino, Switzerland
Perfect pink-brown Zircon crystal (2.2 cm) with truncated base, habit type between s22 and sz*14 (cf. LAPIS 10/2007, p. 20), with extremely rare base form {001}! Beautiful cabinet specimen, well presentable. Recovered in June 2020 from Nepheline pegmatite #2 on the northern flank of Gridone mountain, ex Stefan Weiß collection. All Zircons of this worldwide unique locality are chemically particularly pure and hence show an intense yellow fluorescence in short-wave UV light!
