Large water clear, slightly windowed quartz - Grieswies, Rauris, Austria
 
Beautiful quartz with etched surfaces and windows. The etched surfaces cover the otherwise sharp-edged crystal on four surfaces and form light window surfaces at the top. 
The Rauris is known for its diverse quartz finds. Almost all deposits are in the core zone of the Hohe Tauern National Park. For some years now, collecting minerals has only been possible here with a special permit. Because of this, minerals from the Rauris are rarely offered. The quartz specimen comes from the collection of Josef Kolb, who has been searching for minerals there regularly since the 1970s.
