Tourmaline var. Rubellite - Himalaya Mine, Mesa Grande, San Diego Co., California, USA
Ex. Bill Larson, Ex. Robert Scheck Collection
Impressive tourmaline with a length of 4.5 cm. The colour-intensive crystal is double-terminated. Fine-leaved, highly lustrous cleavelandite, which is covered with water-clear, pink tourmalines, adorns the main crystal and forms a uniquely beautiful collector's item. Depending on the incidence of light, a violet to pink coloration appears. This piece, found in the 1970s, shows in a very impressive way why tourmalines from this mine are among the most important in the world.
The Himalaya Mine is considered the most productive tourmaline mine in North America and is known worldwide for crystals of the best quality.
