Tourmaline var. Rubellite - Himalaya Mine, Mesa Grande, San Diego Co., California, USA
Ex. Bill Larson, Ex. Robert Scheck
Impressive tourmaline with a length of 7.6 cm. The double terminated crystal is completely unharmed. In addition to smaller tourmalines, there is also lepidolite on the crystal. Depending on the incidence of light, a purple to pink color appears. This piece, found in the 1970s, shows in a very impressive way why tourmalines from this mine are among the most important in the world.
The Himalaya Mine is considered to be the most productive tourmaline mine in North America and is known worldwide for the best quality crystals.
