Tourmaline – Himalaya Mine, Mesa Grande, San Diego, California, USA
Sharp-edged, unblemished tourmaline with particularly intense colors from the famous Himalayan mine in the US federal state of California. The tricolor crystal exhibits a slightly yellowish/greenish color at the base, fading into an intense pink and changing to a wonderful green toward the end face. A true joy of color and an eye-catcher in any collection.
The tourmaline dates from the 1960s. The accompanying label states that it was found in the Stewart Mine. Upon inquiry with the former operator of the Himalaya Mine, we were told that this cannot be correct and that the crystal must have come from the Himalaya Mine.
