Tugtupit - Tugtup Agtakorfia, Tunugdliarfik - Fjord, Narsaq, Greenland

Particularly richly occupied and intensely colored tugtupit.

The highly fluorescent Tugtupit appears orange under longwave and it glows intensely red under shortwave.

Tugtupite is an extremely rare mineral from the Kvanefjeld area of Greenland, of which it is also the national stone. The name of the stone comes from a legend, according to which the girl Tuttu (reindeer) gave birth secretly in the mountains. Where the blood fell to the ground, Tugtupit was born.

It occurs in irregular deposits in a matrix of white albite and varies in color from milky pale to intense pink at best.
