 This 2.5 cm large tanzanite crystal shows all the properties of the rare zoisite variation in the best possible way. Apart from the detached contact point to the Matrix, the multi-faceted crystal shape shows itself in good lustre. The crystal has a flawless transparency and, apart from a few stress cracks, is of best gem quality. Particularly interesting about this crystal are the vertical discoloration zones. The characteristic dichroism which moves between blue and purple is very well developed in this untreated piece. Historical piece from the collection of Robert Scheck.
