Sodalite, Vesuvian – Monte Somma, Vesuvius, Italy
The rare sodalite crystals stand out wonderfully clear and highly shiny from the greenish matrix, which is described as a mixture of phlogopite, diopside and hornblende.
In addition to the sodalites, which fluoresce strongly pink/reddish under short-wave UV, there are also vesuvians on the specimen. Vesuvius is the type locality of vesuvian.
The label dates the find to 1909.
Rare and historical collector's piece from Italy.
