Rutile as Sagenite pseudomorphs after Ilmenite
Arzo ridge, Robiei, Val Bavona, Ticino, Switzerland
Straw-yellow to bronze-colored rutile as a lattice-like "sagenite" on milky-white albite (in periclinic habit), with dark green clinochlore and silvery muscovite flakes on graphitic mica schist. This rutile displaced a large former ilmenite sheet in the base zone of the large kyanite/clinochlore fracture No. 201 on the Arzo Ridge. It yielded particularly attractive sagenite specimens in August and September 2022.
