Rutile as sagenite pseudomorph after ilmenite
Arzo ridge, Robiei, Val Bavona, Ticino, Switzerland
Straw-yellow rutile as a free-standing latticed "sagenite" on milky-white albite (in pericline habit), with greenish flakes of muscovite on graphitic mica schist. This rutile displaced former ilmenite slabs in the base zone of the large disthene quartz/clinochlore fracture No.201 on the Arzo ridge. In August and September 2022 it delivered particularly attractive sagenite specimens (cf. LAPIS 2/2023)
