Ruby in marble - Jegdalek, Afghanistan
 
 Clearly defined ruby crystal of 1 cm on bright marble from Jegdalek in Afghanistan. The crystal shape is clearly recognizable and the intense ruby red color is convincing in any light. Size 5 cm x 5.2 cm.
 The Jegdalek region in east-central Afghanistan is considered the only known source of rubies from Afghanistan. The Jegdalek deposits have been mining for gemstones for 700 years.
