Ruby in marble - Jegdalak, Sorobi, Kabul, Afghanistan
 
 Clearly terminated  Ruby crystals on white marble from Jegdalek in Afghanistan. The crystal shape is clearly recognizable and the intense ruby red color is convincing in any light. The special clarity of this piece can be seen especially in transmitted light.
 The Jegdalek region of east-central Afghanistan is considered the only known source of rubies from Afghanistan. The Jegdalek  Deposits has been producing precious stones for 700 years.
