Rhodonite Var. Fowlerite - Mine Hill, Franklin, New Jersey, USA
Found around 1890
Former Otto Lichtenecker Collection
Former P. Pichler Collection 1966
Historical rarity!
A particularly rare rhodonite variety from Franklin, New Jersey, in an impressive size. This historic display piece is clearly visible and has a wonderfully intense color. The embedded calcite reacts intensely under artificial UV light.
This specimen almost certainly dates from the heyday of the Sterling Hill and Franklin mines before 1920. A group of lustrous, rich pink rhodonite crystals up to 6.4 cm long is associated with some calcite and franklinite.
A true classic from the USA.
