Rhodochrosite Stalactite – Capillitas Mine, Andagala, Catamarca, Argentina

 Several fused rhodochrosite stalactites form this special specimen from Argentina. Since most stalactites from Capillitas are cut into decorative slices, such "natural" specimens from the mine are rarely seen.
 The stalactites, which are up to 4.8 cm long, are a beautiful pink color and have a flaky, crystallized surface.
 The base is polished, so that the beautiful banding of the rhodochrosite can be clearly seen.
