Smoky quartz - Val Giuv, Grisons, Switzerland
 
 The Val Giuv, near Sedrun in the Surselva in the canton of Graubünden/Grisons, has always been a synonym for the special color and quality of Swiss smoky quartz, which distinguishes them from other quartz.
 Under the most difficult conditions, the crystals are recovered from the so called "Strahlers" at an altitude of approx. 3.000 meters.
 The smoky quartz often appear together with adulara, creating a wonderful contrast between the opaque white of the adular and the brownish transparency of the smoky quartz.
 This crystal in the usual Swiss quality is a floater due to the recrystallized base with some adular crystals.
