Smoky quartz - Val Giuv, Grisons, Switzerland
 
 Transparent and intensely colored smoky quartz with chloritized end faces and chlorite inclusions.
 The Val Giuv, near Sedrun in the Surselva in the canton of Graubünden/Grisons, has always been a synonym for the special color and quality of Swiss smoky quartz, which distinguishes them from other quartz. Under the most difficult conditions, the crystals are dug by hand from the so-called "Strahlers" at an altitude of around 3,000 meters.
 The smoky quartz often appear together with adulara, creating a wonderful contrast between the opaque white of the adular and the brownish transparency of the smoky quartz.
