Proustite – Schlema - Hartenstein, Ore Mountains, Saxony, Germany

 A particularly richly decorated proustite specimen. Cavities are found all around, filled with rare, ruby-red, highly lustrous proustite crystals. The crystals, up to 8 mm in size, contrast strikingly with the dark matrix and display their transparency and intense color even in daylight, without additional backlighting. German proustite of this quality and with this particularly well-preserved, intense color is rarely available these days.
 (Due to their sensitivity to light, many historical steps have lost their color).
