Phantom quartz on leaf calcite – Schynschlucht, Thusis, Viamala, Graubünden, Switzerland

 Rock crystals with the characteristic chlorite phantoms on white calcite from the Schynschlucht in the canton of Grisson. The chlorite inclusions give the beautifully arranged rock crystals an intense green color, which is clearly visible through the lustrous and water-clear surface. The quartz and calcite crystals are partially coated with limonite. This reddish coating creates a beautiful color contrast.
 Since working and generally searching for minerals in and around the Schynschlucht has been banned, pieces of this type are rarely available for purchase.
