Copper, cuprite, chrysocolla – Ghostcroft Mine, Mullion, Cornwall, England

A now extremely rare classic from Cornwall. An aesthetic and colorful copper specimen with cuprite and chrysocolla. The cuprite crystals are distributed throughout the copper, giving the specimen a beautiful luster.

These magnificent copper specimens were discovered at the beginning of the 19th century when raw materials were increasingly mined during the Industrial Revolution.

Cornwall is one of the founding cities of the Industrial Revolution that shaped our world and was rich in ores, including copper, but few remains from its heyday have survived to this day.
