Anhydrite - NEAT Tunnel, Switzerland
 
Aesthetically, clear anhydrite floater crystal with the typical lustrous chlorite from the base tunnel NEAT. Because Anhydrite does not exist at surface or open fractures, these pieces are only found on projects such as NEAT tunneling. Since most of the crystals were destroyed during the work in the tunnel, pieces like this one are extremely rare. 
Anhydrite is an extremely rare mineral that was found almost exclusively in Swiss tunnel construction sites, such as the Simplon Tunnel, at the beginning of the 20th century, or the NEAT tunnel. Beautiful, water-clear crystal of good size and best quality!
