Hematite with Rutile - Fibbia, St. Gotthard, Airolo, Ticino, Switzerland
Very interesting historical specimen with original label, dated Andermatt in September 1864. The haematitroses characteristic of Fibbia are associated with rutile, dolomite and quartz crystals. Isolated rutile needles can be found everywhere on the hematite and free-standing rutile needles can also be found in smaller cavities in the matrix. The iron roses have an aesthetic build up and a clearly defined rose shape.
A wonderful historical piece from an area of discovery in the Swiss Alps from which hardly any new finds are known.
