Hematite on Adular – Cavradi Gorge, Sedrun, Tujetsch, Graubünden, Switzerland

Thick tabular, highly lustrous hematite in fluorescent Adularia from the famous Cavradi Gorge in Graubünden. The flawless hematite contrasts with the chain adularia in which it grew, both in terms of the shape and its metallic lustre.

Aesthetic cabinet sized specimen of an absolute classic from the Cavradi Gorge near Sedrun.

In addition to localities such as Val Giuv or Göscheneralp, the Cavradi Gorge is certainly one of the most famous in Switzerland, if not the entire Alpine region. In the gorge, the rock is laboriously worked on in order to reach the coveted crevasses in which rock crystal and hematite of the very best quality can primarily be found. But also smoky quartz and amethyst are occasionally found. Minerals from the Cavradi Gorge near Sedrun in Tujetsch are right very popular with collectors and decorate collections worldwide.
