Garnet var. Andradite with Hematite - Avasalos, Serifos, Greece
 
 Very nice specimen with garnet crystals (var. andradite) from the Cyclades island of Serifos. The garnets show a rare zonal coloration on the edges. The dark edges are characteristic of this find and appear translucent in comparison to the orange-brown areas in transmitted light. Hematite roses are particularly rare on the andradites. Here is a 9 mm fine-leaved rose on the side of the specimen. Wonderfully aesthetic and rare piece from Greece.
