Native Copper – Lake Superior, Michigan, USA

A highly aesthetic and historical specimen with enormous copper crystals! This amazing, spear-shaped copper comes from the world-famous, but long-exhausted, copper deposits of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

The style of the associated historical label was used by the Freiberg Mining Academy in Saxony from 1880 to 1920. This depot served to supply the Mining Academy's teaching and exhibition collection with material from Germany and abroad through exchange, purchase, and sale.
