Fluorite on Quartz - Pine Canyon Deposit, Burro Mountains, New Mexico, USA

Particularly intense purple fluorite with the unmistakable scaly surface structure from the Pine Canyon Deposit in New Mexico. This surface and the color are unique and characteristic of these fluorites. Another feature of the site is the green interior of the crystals. One of the undamaged crystals has a cleavage surface on the back where the different colors of the growth zones  can be seen.
Meanwhile a real American classic, good matrix specimens like this one are not often offered anymore.
