Cuprite on Chrysocolla – Mashamba West Mine, Kolwezi, Lualaba, DR Congo

 Richly decorated, large cuprite specimen from a find in the 1990s.
 The highly lustrous, intact and sharp-edged crystallized cuprites are of considerable size and contrast strongly with the chrysocolla turf.
 In transmitted light, the metallic-looking crystals appear in a flawless, blood-red transparency.
 The largest crystal group has an impressive size of 3 cm x 3 cm!!!
 The cuprites show different growth forms.
 Cuprites on matrix of this size are extremely rare. Usually, only single crystals or highly prepared specimens are offered.
