Cuprite as Chalcotrichite in Calcite, with native Copper –

Deep red finely fibrous Cuprite (Chalcotrichite) enclosed in 1-2 mm Calcite crystals around a 8 mm-sized group of Copper crystals, on monzonite matrix. Many of the Calcite crystals are completely "filled" with bright red Chalcotrichite, which makes them shine like sealing wax. An equally rare and visually attractive mineral association from the world-famous Ajo open pit mine, recovered in 1994
