Calcite “Phantom Calcite” – Buena Tierra Mine, Francisco Portillo, West Camp, Santa Eulalia, Aquiles Serdán Municipality, Chihuahua, Mexico

Former Dr. F. Krantz, Bonn (approx. 1965)

A very beautiful specimen of phantom calcite ("dogtooth") from a historical discovery in the 1960s. A second generation of transparent, bright calcites encases hematite-coated, reddish-brown, sharp-edged calcites. The second generation fluoresces intensely red under artificial UV light.

This rare, historic display piece comes with an old collection label from the Krantz company.
