Calcite on fluorite – 2nd Sovetskii Mine, Dalnegorsk, Kavalerovo Mining District, Primorskiy Kray, Russia
Ex. Collection Rock H. Currier
Another historical collection piece from the collection of the American mineral collector Rock H. Currier.
Sharp-edged, translucent hexagonal calcite on velvety shiny, green fluorite.
The dominant calcite has a flat surface, while the smaller calcite crystal has multiple intergrowths. The combination of hexagonal calcites with intense green fluorite is very rare.
Wonderfully contrasting and highly aesthetic collector's piece from a find in the 1990s, from the famous 2nd Sovetskii Mine in Dalnegorsk.
The now deceased, passionate mineral collector, LAPIS author and mineral dealer Rock H. Currier was a true American collecting legend. During his life he traveled to almost every accessible location. We were lucky enough to acquire a few selected pieces from his private collection for you.
