Quartz on Matrix - Grieswies, Rauris, Austria
 
 The 8 cm high and 13.5 cm wide specimen consists of two quartz crystals and is fused with a layer of matrix. The smaller crystal has grown on the side of the larger one. Both undamaged crystals are clear and of very good quality.
 The Rauris is known for its diverse quartz finds. Almost all deposits are in the core zone of the Hohe Tauern National Park. For some years now, collecting minerals has only been possible here with a special permit. Because of this, minerals from the Rauris are rarely offered. The quartz specimen comes from the collection of Josef Kolb, who has been searching for minerals there regularly since the 1970s.
