Rock Crystal – Grieswies, Rauris, Salzburg, Austria
Ex-Josef Kolb collection
Rare collectible from the Rauris. Snow-white flake of quartz overgrown all around with water clear crystals with an unusual habit. It is probably a kind of separating layer in the fissure, which has crystallized wonderfully and thus produced this unique piece.
The Rauris is known for its diverse rock crystal finds. Almost all deposits are in the core zone of the Hohe Tauern National Park. For several years, collecting minerals here has only been possible with a special permit. Because of this, minerals from the Rauris are rarely offered. The rock crystal comes from the collection of Josef Kolb, who has been regularly searching for minerals there since the 1970s.
