Barite, dolomite – Frizington, Cumbria, England
This aesthetic rare hand specimen consists of double-terminated baryte crystals with red hematite inclusions on some surfaces.
The matrix consists of cream-colored dolomite crystals, with some shiny hematite crystals visible on the underside of the specimen. The main barite crystal is 7.4 cm long and sharply edged on both sides. All three barite crystals have an outstanding luster and some water-clear zones. The contrast between the slightly greenish-bluish barite with the red hematite inclusions and the bright dolomite is a true feast for the eyes.
The vibrant arrangement of crystals makes this English classic from the Frizington area of West Cumbria a wonderful display piece.
