Azurite - Touissit, Morocco
ex collection Josef Kolb
Azurite specimen, consisting of one 7 cm long and several centrally seated, laterally grown crystals on a limonite matrix with little malachite. The dominant crystal is double terminated, highly-lustrous and partly etched, but unharmed. In transmitted light, the azurite shows an intense dark blue color.
The famous site near Touissit in Morocco is no longer being worked on - apart from some dump finds of coarse crystalline azurite and possibly gypsum and brochantite, there are no noteworthy new finds. Historical specimen from the Josef Kolb collection.
