Azurite, Cerussite, Malachite – Tsumeb Mine, Otavi, Namibia
High-luster, royal-blue azurites measuring a remarkable 6.5 cm comprise this picture-perfect collection specimen from the famous Tsumeb Mine. The sharp-edged azurites exhibit flawless transparency and a vibrant blue color even in low light. Some of the azurite has been transformed into lustrous malachite, creating a beautiful color contrast. Numerous cerussite crystals of equally fine quality adorn this wonderfully aesthetic display piece.
These stages make the Tsumeb Mine one of the most important deposits in the world. A valuable addition to any collection!
This unique azurite specimen was acquired by Peter Pichler in 1967. Another handwritten label suggests that the azurite had already adorned a collection much earlier.
