Aquamarine – Galileia Mine, Doce Valley, Minas Gerais, Brazil

This massive aquamarine specimen consists of three thick, intergrown crystals up to 6 cm long. The bluish crystals are of gem quality. The greenish-blue color, typical of the well-known locality, is intense, and the end faces are beautifully crystallized. Also characteristic are the clear (not polished) and matte surfaces all around.

This large Brazilian aquamarine specimen is from the typical finds of the 1950s and 1960s.
