Amethyst Scepter – Fiescher Glacier, Valais, Switzerland

Amethysts from the Fiescher Glacier are truly special and extremely rare. The site where these sought-after sceptered amethysts can be found is only accessible to experienced mountaineers. Amidst a rugged, dangerous, and surreal glacial landscape, the melting ice sheet exposed a small zone where amethysts are discovered. Only a few prospectors have been fortunate enough to find crevices containing these intensely colored and beautifully sceptered amethysts.

The ice at the discovery site has retreated further, but it is now covered by a layer of rock several meters thick, thus preventing any further discoveries.

This collector's item consists of four amethyst scepters mounted on smoky quartz. The scepters are grown on slightly recrystallized quartz.

A unique collector's item from the wild mountain world of the Swiss Alps.

This exceptional specimen comes from the Italian quartz collection of Paolo Martinotti. His collection is documented in a 450-page book, which includes this aesthetically pleasing piece on page 223. The book is included in the price and will be delivered with the specimen.

A magnificent alpine collection.
