Amethyst – Las Vigas, Veracruz, Mexico
 
Highly aesthetic star-shaped amethyst specimen (spray). Both the transparent crystals and the artichoke-like crystals arise from a point where the specimen has detached from the matrix. The contrast of the two sides, which is provided by the different crystal shapes as well as by the contrast between transparency and opaque, makes this collection piece a rarity. Unfortunately two of the amethysts are damaged. However, this unfortunate circumstance does not affect the overall aesthetics.
