Some of the finest amethysts in the world come from the Guerrero region of Mexico. Guerrero crystals are larger in the lower and middle regions and taper towards the tip. This allows them to be easily distinguished from the crystals from the Veracruz site.
New finds from Guerrero are rare, most of the crystals come from finds from the 1980s.
